- We have launched our orphan care work in the Dominican Republic, serving alongside VisionTrust International. We sent two teams there in 2008, refurbishing the Jeshua House orphanage with a total makeover. We have also purchased a new school bus for the Christian School that serves the hundreds of orphans in the area of Santo Domingo.
- During the summer of 2008, we were able to send 155 foster children to 38 different Christian Camps across the USA. 15 foster children gave their lives to Christ and many others were encouraged in their faith and character building.
- Family Christian Stores’ customers made it possible for FCS to donate $25,000 to help to build a year round retreat center at a Christian Youth Camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This program will serve the foster children and the under served youth in that part of Michigan.
- Annually, the Family Christian Stores’ James Fund opens it stores for a day to especially touch the lives of orphans and widows. We connect with over 6,000 orphans and widows in this annual “Day of Sharing” event.
- Since the inception of the James Fund in 2003, we have had a goal of helping Family Christian Stores employees adopt orphans. The James Fund makes matching grants available to eligible FCS employees for up to $5,000 per adoption and to immediate family members for up to $3,000 per adoption.
- We’ve had the pleasure of seeing hundreds of families choose adoption; choose to start orphan care ministries in their local churches; or personally engage in hands-on work with orphans in various parts of the world.
